ROLL SMART - roller skating, scooter & skateboarding

RollBack offers coaching based on the British Roller Federation (BRSF) skate smart grading programme. We design our sessions into bitesize hour long (dependant) sessions to introduce a range of activities around roller skating and skateboarding to last a term, 6 weeks or a complete academic year. Skate Smart is about development and the progammes are set out to introduce participants to basic movement, coordination and balance. Skate Smart is conducted in a controlled environment of calm & comfort to instil a sense of confidence and improved self esteem. Our coaches are very experienced and are often qualified youth workers.

THE 'ROLLERS' ACADEMY - roller skating, scooter & skateboarding

If you are looking for PE ideas (KS1 & KS2) then the 'rollers' academy provides schools with perfect enrichment activities as well an ideal way to nurture grassroots talent. As part of the overall programme we offer ideal exit routes into competitive sports such as Speed skating, Roller (rink) hockey, RollBall and Roller Derby.  The schedule is designed to be a mix of 'roll smart regular' and 'Jamming', but with a tiered approach to participant development.  These last a minimum of 6 months, we'd be happy to talk about including the academy in your next PE and sport plan. We have enough lesson plans for a whole year involving whole year groups utilising indoor & outside spaces.

TEACHER TRAINING

We can provide teacher training with two courses, each 3 hrs CPD for each of the discipline eg. Roller Skate, Skateboard, Scooter.

The first course covers ..

  • Safety - including the environment you are working in.
  • Controlling the whole class and teaching the first steps.
  • Basic skills such as going backwards and turning corners.
  • Equipment - how different skates effect learning.
  • Observation and analysis of faults.

The course does have a half hour practical, a little role play; BUT it is of no consequence whether or not you skate yourself, nor how well you roll.

Our courses are totally sports specific and technical there is no generic stuff that you as teachers don't need.
There is now a second course ..

ROLLER SKATING FOR TEACHERS (ii) which covers improving technique, plus the rules and requirements for competition ..
