Game 1: ECU v BEDFORD GRIFFINS
In a challenging encounter against ECU, we struggled with poor form, resulting in a daunting 29-0 defeat. We found ourselves frequently chasing the ball, unable to establish control of the gameplay. With limited attacking attempts, ECU dominated the match, showcasing superior ball possession and offensive prowess. It was a tough learning experience for the Griffins, highlighting the need for improved coordination and strategic play.
There seems to be a recurring theme where we loose our positioning which now underscores the importance of ball control and strategic positioning.
FULL TIME: 29 – 0 ECU
Game 2: BEDFORD GRIFFINS v Skaters
Despite a promising start, we faced a mental setback in our form against Skaters, kudos to Skaters for great sportmanship, ultimately losing a flattering 14-0. The Griffins showcased good initial form but struggled to maintain focus as the game progressed. Defensive lapses allowed Skaters to capitalize on opportunities, highlighting the importance of sustained concentration throughout the match. The experience emphasizes the need for the Griffins to work on mental resilience and defensive stability.
FULL TIME: 0 – 14 SKATERS
Game 3: BEDFORD GRIFFINS v Soham Dark Blue
In a 10-0 defeat against Soham Dark Blue, we displayed improved form but struggled to maintain composure throughout the match. We showed better coordination and ball control, but lapses in concentration allowed Soham Dark Blue to capitalise on defensive gaps. The match highlighted the importance of balancing offensive efforts with a resilient defence and maintaining composure under pressure.
We definitely had improved form and held it it for longer against Soham Dark Blue's indicating positive progress in the right direction - we now need to build on this and maintain form under pressure as well as when we attack.
FULL TIME: 0 – 10 SOHAM D.BLUE
Game 4: Soham Light Blue v BEDFORD GRIFFINS
In a more competitive showing, we faced Soham Light Blue in our last game of this tournament; ultimately we ended up losing 8-2, but the team displayed much better ball control, held possession effectively, and made more attacking plays. Although the score line did not favour the Griffins, the match showcased improved offensive efforts and thoughtful strategic gameplay.
This last game demonstrated more confidence overall as a team - the increased attacking plays against Soham Light Blue indicates positive strides in the team's development. To build on this, we need to continue to focus on our form as this will contribute to a more well-rounded and competitive performance in future matches.
